Undergraduate courses MATH1230 - Statistics for Scientists and Engineers, Tulane University, Department of Mathematics, 2021
I served as a Teaching Assistant for MATH1230 for over six semesters, during which I taught 10 classes (Fall 2019, Spring 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021, Summer 2021, Summer 2022). Students came from diverse backgrounds, including mathematics, chemistry, economics, physics, computer science, biology, and psychology. My responsibilities included delivering lectures, clarifying statistical concepts, guiding practical implementation, leading problem-solving sessions, grading assignments, and providing individualized support to help students enhance their understanding of the course material.
The aims of the course including:
- Proficiency with descriptive statistics and selected graphical methods
- Understanding of probability concepts and their applications
- Proficiency with discrete and continuous random variables and their applications
- Understanding of the Central Limit Theorem and sampling distributions
- Proficiency in introductory parameter estimation and statistical inference
- Familiarity with simple linear regression concepts and applications
